25th Anniversary Celebrations


Celebrating a Milestone at the Specialty Food Shop

The Specialty Food Shop celebrated its 25th anniversary in April, 2007.  The festivities kicked off with an elegant wine and cheese event, followed by a cake day for SickKids staff members and finally a food allergy workshop for consumers. 

On April 26th, 2007 the Specialty Food Shop hosted a wine and cheese event to thank staff and stakeholders for their continued support. 
Alisa Bar-Dayan, head marketing and communications dietitian for the Specialty Food Shop hosted the evening and introduced honoured guest speakers Dr. Hamilton, Dr. Pencharz and Angela Holtham.  Listeners were reminded of the fundamental need for a shop dedicated to those with special dietary needs.  Twenty-five years later, the Specialty Food Shop is still providing people of all ages with products and services to help maintain their health.

Celebrating with SickKids

On April 27th, 2007 members of the Specialty Food Shop served complementary cake to hundreds of SickKids staff members to show our gratitude for the collaborative relationships we enjoy with different departments in the hospital.

Food Allergy Workshop for Consumers
 
On April 28th, 2007 the celebrations ended with a consumer workshop entitled “Living Well with Food Allergies.”  Fifteen food allergy related companies participated in the shop’s biggest food fair thus far. Participants benefited from interacting with company representatives and sampling their products. The day’s speakers were outstanding and provided invaluable information to all who attended. SickKid’s very own Adelle Atkinson MD, FRCPC presented an exceptional talk on “Understanding Food Allergies” which truly informed participants about food allergies. 

 

The Specialty Food Shop is planning new and exciting changes for 2007 and beyond!
